Catholic Women’s League

The Catholic Women’s League Southport Branch was formed in 1989 by Father Keith Turnbull for the women of the parish. It began with 50 members 6 of whom are still current members. The League aims to unite Catholic women in a common bond of friendship for the promotion of religious, intellectual and social work. Membership is open to all.

The Southport branch, together with Burleigh Heads, Runaway Bay and Surfers Paradise are part of the Brisbane Archdiocesan CWL.

Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at 11am at Guardian Angels Church in Southport. The meeting is followed by Mass at 12.30pm. Members then have the option to enjoy lunch together at The Blarney Stone in Australia Fair where the CWL has a permanent booking.

Members organise and assist with fundraising for charity through annual events like bus trips, Melbourne Cup sweeps and Trading Tables.
