Baptism incorporates us into Christ and forms us into God’s people. This first sacrament pardons all our sins, rescues us from the power of darkness, and brings us to the dignity of adopted children, a new creation through water and the Holy Spirit. Hence we are called and are indeed the children of God.

Baptisms are held only at these times/days/venues:

  • 1st Saturday of the month Mary Immaculate Church, Ashmore 11.00am
  • 2nd Saturday of the month Guardian Angels Church, Southport 11.00am
  • 3rd Saturday of the month Mary Immaculate Church, Ashmore 11.00am

Southport Parish follows the policies of the Archdiocese of Brisbane as it welcomes each person into the family of the church through the waters of Baptism.

Dress code for the child being baptised is smart casual, ensuring comfort around the neck area for when their head is tilted back during the ceremony.

A baptism candle is required for the service. If you do have difficulties sourcing one, our shop “Angels on Scarborough”, 2/115 Scarborough Street, Southport, has plenty available for purchase.

Please arrive at the church at least 20 minutes prior to the baptism and introduce your child, yourself and the Godparents to Father.
