Childrens Liturgy

CHILDREN’S LITURGY

Childrens LiturgyWe invite families who attend this mass for their children to join the Children’s Liturgy of the word on Sundays at 9am in Mary Immaculate Parish. This activity introduces children to the scriptures, prayers and worship at Sunday Eucharist.

There are a couple of different age groups for Children’s Liturgy. The Sunday Scripture readings are presented in a special way to each group helping children to relate to the gospel stories. Here are the two (2) different age groups for Children’s Liturgy.

  • Under 7’s have a bible story from the Old or New Testament followed by songs and backed up with colouring sheets.
  • 8 to 10 years for the older children and those preparing for their Sacramental Program, Term 1 – the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Term 2 – 1st Holy Communion and for Term 3 the Sacrament of Confirmation. This group will be working on the resources that were given to them prior to their Sacramental preparation. There is also an opportunity to experience what it is like to be an altar server (this applies to the children that have celebrated and received their First Holy Communion.)
